Looking Ahead
A dynamic weather pattern begins to set up over the islands for the next several days as a strong low pressure system moves into the Central Pacific spreading widespread showers across the state through Wednesday. The approaching trough will also produce heavy rainfall and scattered thunderstorms as the larger scale wind pattern transitions from trade winds toward a southerly kona wind flow later today. Weather impacts include periods of heavy rain, thunderstorms and flash flooding spreading from west to east through Wednesday. Trade winds will return for the second half of the week with continued showers across all islands especially over windward and mountain areas.
West Side
Today: Scattered showers after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 87. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Tonight: Showers likely, mainly after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 77. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Showers likely, then frequent showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 7am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 86. South Side
