Contractor Unearths Human Skeletal Remains in Kona

Big Island Police have initiated a coroner’s inquest investigation after the finding of skeletal remains on an unimproved lot on Aliʻi Drive in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.

The discovery was make on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 18, 2018 when a contractor unearthed what appeared to be human bones.

The construction worker ceased work and detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigation Division responded to continue the investigation.

Detectives recovered more bones and personal items from the scene on Wednesday, and are following up on leads as to the identity of the deceased.
