Applications Being Accepted for Recycling Grants
The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is accepting grant application/proposals for the DEM Recycling Grant Program for 2020. According to DEM, an estimated $239,500 in funds are available for the council to award.
Applicant projects must be consistent with the goals of DEM, the Environmental Protection & Sustainability Division (EP&S), and the Recycling Section. Potential projects may include, but are not limited to, recycling education, equipment upgrades, program extensions, and the collection of processed materials.
Applications are now available online. Paper copies may be picked up or dropped off at the EP&S office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The office is located at 2145 Wells Street, Suite 103 in Wailuku. DEM will hold a grant application information session at the EP&S office on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 at 3 p.m.
Grant Summary applications must be delivered to EP&S or postmarked by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019. Applicants will be notified if they have been selected to submit a complete full grant application. Submittal does not guarantee funding.
If selected, completed full applications must be received at the EP&S office or postmarked by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2019. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all of the required documents are included with the application. According to DEM, after the first round of applications are funded, there may be additional applications accepted for 2020, subject to council appropriations.
