Rotary of Lahaina Sunset Hosts “Friendraiser” Jan. 29
Maui residents are invited to attend a “Friendraiser” hosted by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset, Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant located at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Kāʻanapali.
Those attending the fun and interactive evening can learn more about the local, regional, national and international projects of the Rotary Club. The club will provide complimentary pūpū and there will be a no-host bar with happy hour drink prices until 6 p.m.
The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset, West Maui’s evening Rotary club, is beginning its fifth year of service to the West Maui community. The club has been named Rotary’s Small Club of the Year in the Hawaiian Islands for the past three consecutive years.
“We’re proud of our service to this community,” said Ryan Beenken, president-elect of the club. “And there is so much more we want to do. Our goal with this “Friendraiser” is to meet some new friends, folks who may be willing to join us in tackling big things here in West Maui.”
This club has been a co-sponsor with Mālama Maui Nui’s Third Saturday Recycling program at the Lahaina Cannery Mall since 2015.
Known as the “Go for the Green” Rotary Club, it also provides scholarships to high school graduates who will major in Environmental Studies and has just received county approval to install 22 Rescue Tubes on West Maui Beaches. Additionally, the club sponsors the annual “Go for the Green” Fundraising event each year on St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The event is scheduled this year on Saturday March 16, 2019.
“We know that Maui residents are looking for ways to give back to this community,” said President Heidi Dollinger. “Rotary provides the perfect avenue to do this. In Rotary we believe many hands make light work. Rotary members gladly volunteer our time, and we always get back more than we give,” said Dollinger.
