$2.2 M Kahului Drainage Project Starts Feb. 4

A nearly $2.2 million drainage project is scheduled to begin Monday, Feb. 4, according to the Maui County Department of Public Works.

Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co. was awarded the $2.17 million Kahului drain line replacement project.

The project involves replacing existing drain lines at Molokaʻi Akau and Pōhaku streets and at Wākea Avenue and Alamaha Street; installing reinforced concrete jackets at existing sewer lines and waterlines; restoring trenches; resurfacing pavement; constructing speed humps; and painting pavement stripes.

Work hours are set for 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. Project hours at the Alamaha/Wākea intersection will include night and/or weekend work.

The target date for project completion is Aug. 27.
