Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union has expanded to the Valley Isle, beginning with a temporary branch that opened for business Feb. 6 in advance of a permanent branch in the Puʻunēnē Shopping Center later this year.

The temporary branch is at 137 Kalepa Place in Kahului. The Maui team includes: Lili Ramelb, branch manager; Kerilyn Oshiro, branch supervisor; Kelsey Chin, member relations officer; and Roselyn Mondejar, member relations specialist.

This is the second Neighbor Island endeavor for Aloha Pacific, which is based in Honolulu. It recently merged with Kekaha FCU on Kaua‘i, which is now known as Kekaha Credit Union, a Division of Aloha Pacific FCU. Aloha Pacific also has a branch in Henderson, Las Vegas, and is the only Hawai‘i financial institution to reach out to the “ninth island.”

“We look forward to introducing our convenient, money- and time-saving products and services to the people of Maui,” said Vince Otsuka, president and CEO of Aloha Pacific. “In anticipation of our planned location at Puʻunēnē Shopping Center, we’ve decided to greet the surge of interest by opening this temporary location so that Maui residents can explore the services we have to offer. For more than 80 years, Aloha Pacific has assisted in the financial goals and well-being of our members. We firmly believe in the credit union movement’s emphasis on people helping people.”

All employees of Maui county and members of the Hawai‘i Government Employees Association are automatically eligible to join Aloha Pacific. These groups are among the more than 2,300 Select Employee Groups whose workers are eligible for membership. Membership in the credit union requires an initial minimum deposit into a new savings account.

The hours for the Aloha Pacific temporary branch on Kalepa Place are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Its phone number is (808) 873-6101. This branch is also part of the CO-OP shared branching network: members of other credit unions that are part of the network can also conduct transactions at the branch.

Aloha Pacific recently partnered with Maui FCU to open the island’s first Interactive Teller Machine, or ITM, which can conduct shared branching transactions. The machine is at Maui FCU’s Kahului branch at 107 East Wākea Ave. to assist Maui’s working families that might be unable to access credit union services during traditional hours.

Users may choose to interact with a live person via the high-definition video chat option, or simply use the machine as a regular ATM. A virtual specialist will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Maui FCU members now have free access to the ITM and the entire Aloha Pacific ATM network.
