Head-on Collision on Honoapiilani Hwy in Olowalu

Maui police and emergency responders are on the scene of a motor vehicle collision on the Honoapiilani Highway in Olowalu. The incident was reported at around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019.

Witnesses tell Maui Now that a mustang crossed the yellow line just south of Olowalu and sideswiped one vehicle, overcorrected, then overcorrected again and collided head on into a second vehicle. Multiple injuries were reported.

As of 4:40 p.m., Maui Now has reports that traffic headed south from the bypass above Launiopoko has been stopped for about 30 minutes and was just starting to crawl.

Motorists are advised that it will take some time for traffic to resume its normal flow and can expect significant delays.
