Wailuku First Friday “Navigating Wailuku” April 5
Wailuku First Friday presents “Navigating Wailuku” on April 5, 2019 from 6 to 9 p.m. on Market Street with live entertainment, art, local shopping and a variety of food and drinks.
On the Maui Thing Stage, performances will be provided by Kuaola from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and by Ahumanu from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
The Banyan Tree Stage features performances by Luna Overdrive from 6 to 9 p.m. and by Brenton Keith and his Bag O’ Tricks from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m.
At Kīpuka Square, a Hawaiian voyaging and navigation exhibit will be presented using a traditional Hawaiian star compass, star identification, and featuring a hand calibration pole and voyager image exhibit. A free Kui A Lei (lei making) workshop will be offered by Haku Maui; participation will be limited to the first 100 guests.
Traffic on Market Street will be closed to vehicle traffic starting at 5:30 p.m. Signage will remind the public that no cars will be allowed on Market Street during the event. Cars left parked on the street during the event will be ticketed.
Maui Medical Group offers free parking during Wailuku First Friday at the facility’s lot, located near the Main/High Street intersection. The Vineyard Street parking exit will close at 9 p.m. and patrons can exit the lot onto Main Street after this time.
