With the help of donations from customers throughout the month of February, Pukalani Superette was able to donate a total of $1,300 to the American Heart Association.

Store owners Aric and Myles Nakashima presented the check to Jenny Miller, development director of the AHA, last Thursday.

“I am really touched by the generosity of our customers because, without them, these donations would not be possible,” co-owner Aric Nakashima said. “We are thrilled to serve the community in this way, and we encourage people to donate at the canisters found at each Pukalani Superette check-out counter.”

The AHA is dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, fighting for stronger public health policies, and providing critical tools and information to save and improve lives.

The organization will be hosting their annual Maui Heart Walk on April 20 at Keōpūolani Park in Kahului. Anyone interested in donating or registering for the walk can do so online or by calling Joann Yang at (808) 377-6646.
