21-Year-Old Dies in Wailea Motorcycle Crash

A motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries in a deadly crash in Wailea on Sunday night. The incident was reported at 8:10 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2019 on Wailea Alanui Drive south of Wailea Ike Drive.

Police say the crash occurred as the operator of a maroon 2007 Yamaha motorcycle failed to negotiate a right bend in the roadway. According to police reports, the motorcycle struck the center median and the operator was ejected.

Police say the operator was pronounced dead at the scene, and have since identified the individual as Cameron Kosman, 21, of Wailuku.

The roadway was closed for about four hours while police conducted their investigation.

The involvement of speed, drugs and alcohol are still being determined as the investigation is ongoing.

This was Maui County’s eighth traffic fatality for 2019, compared to two at the same time last year.
