Update (9:21 p.m. 5.15.19): Maui Electric crews are working into the evening to restore power to about 100 remaining customers in the Honokōwai area after a vehicle downed multiple poles along Lower Honoapiʻilani between Honokōwai Village and Honokōwai Beach Park around 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Previous Post: A vehicle accident involving downed power poles on Wednesday afternoon forced the closure of Lower Honoapiʻilani in the West Maui area of Honokōwai.

Maui police issued the road closure notification at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.

The accident site is located on Lower Honoapiʻilani Highway between Honokōwai Villa and Honokōwai Beach Park.
