Kahului Temperature Breaks Record for Fifth Time in Six Days

For the fifth time in six days, a record setting temperature was set in Kahului, according to data compiled by the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service reports that the temperature at Kahului Airport on Thursday, May 23, 2019, reached 95 degrees, breaking the old record of 92 degrees set for that day in 1996.
This comes on the heels of a three consecutive days of record setting temperatures from Saturday through Monday, and an additional record-breaking temperature of 96 degrees on Wednesday, the hottest so far this week.
On Saturday, May 18, a record high temperature of 91 degrees was set in Kahului, breaking the old record of 90 degrees set for that day in 2007.
On Sunday, May 19, a record-breaking high temperature of 92 degrees was set in Kahului, breaking the old record of 89 degrees set for that day in 2008.
On Monday, May 20, a record-breaking high temperature of 93 degrees was set in Kahului, breaking the old record of 91 degrees set for that day in 1978.
On Wednesday, May 22, a record-breaking high temperature of 96 degrees was set in Kahului, breaking the old record of 92 degrees set for that day in 2014.
Today’s Kahului forecast calls for sunny skies, with a high near 92. It will also be windy with winds from the East at 17 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.
Forecasters from the NWS are forecasting warm and humid conditions to continue “with some relief as the winds shift east through the Memorial Day weekend.”
