A brush fire burned two acres in a Haʻikū gulch on Sunday evening before being contained early this morning.

The fire was reported at around 7:51 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2019 in a gulch to the east of Hahana Road in Haʻikū.

Crews remained on scene into the night and continued to douse hot spots today. The fire was declared contained at 1:02 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019.

Fire officials say passing showers and light winds on scene helped to keep fire from growing.
