The Office of the County Clerk on Maui will use the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku as a voter service center for the 2020 elections.

The community center will be unavailable for reservation by the public from Thursday, July 23, 2020 through Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020 for the primary election and Friday, Oct. 16, 2020 through Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020, for the general election.

At the voter service center, for the first statewide vote-by-mail elections in 2020, voters will be able to drop off their voted mail ballot, register or re-register to vote, and vote on electronic voting machines.

“We are very grateful to the community for accommodating us as we use the community center to provide vital services for voters,” said County Clerk Josiah Nishita.

“We understand this facility is in high-demand and we appreciate the public and the Department of Parks and Recreation for allowing us to operate in a location that is convenient, secure, and accessible for the 2020 elections,” said Nishita.

The Office of the County Clerk moved early walk-in voting from the Clerk’s office to the community center in 2018 due to an increase in absentee walk-in voting. The County Clerk’s office says the move reduced wait times, provided convenient parking and improved accessibility for voters.
