Last Makawao Third Friday Party THIS FRIDAY

Makawao Town is holding the last Makawao 3rd Friday Party this Friday, August 16, 2019.

The community event, partially sponsored by Maui County grants, had been going on for the last eight years.

However last month Makawao merchants said lack of participation and donations from other businesses in town lead to them giving up the event for the time being.

In response to the event ending Maui County Mayor Mike Victorino said he met with other groups to see what could be done, but said no one stepped up to the plate to take it over.

The last Makawao 3rd Friday Party, entitled “A Hui Hou,” will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. along Baldwin Avenue, from Brewer Road to Makawao Avenue. The event will feature “pop-up parties, sales and gatherings inside of Makawao Merchant stores” according to a press release from the Makawao Merchants Association.

Food trucks, arts and crafts and other entertainment will also be featured, including keiki storytelling, a inflatable or “bouncy” house, a game show with questions about Makawao with prizes along with a number of bands and other acts.
