The County of Maui launched a new website to provide updates to the public on developments in Wailuku Town, as well as mitigation efforts during construction.

“There are road and infrastructure improvements that will commence shortly, plans for a new parking structure, and efforts underway to realize a place where the community can gather,” Managing Director Sandy Baz said.

“However, it’s Wailuku Town’s own unique character and sense of place that makes it a true gem for locals and visitors alike. We’re thrilled to be able to share and showcase the many facets of this historic town.”

The new mobile-friendly website features:

  • A construction updates section with the latest town improvements.
  • Information on temporary parking and shuttle transportation that will go into effect in early 2020.
  • A directory of Wailuku Town historical landmarks, arts programs, restaurants, shops, and services.
  • An events calendar of upcoming community meetings, Friday Town Parties, Small Town Big Art activities and events hosted by Wailuku Performing Arts Alliances and ‘Īao Theater.

The county also plans to include links to apps to assist Wailuku Town employees with free shuttle transportation during construction of the new parking structure, which is scheduled for early 2020.

A self-walking tour of Wailuku’s art district will be available by the end of the year. The county will also provide updates through Facebook and Instagram (@wailukulive).
