Applications are now being accepted for the first phase of the Kahului Lani affordable rental housing complex for seniors in Kahului. The first phase includes 82 low income rental units for seniors age 55 and older.
The project is located on School Street between the Kahului Library and Foodland at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Center.
Rent ranges from $470 per month for those at or below 30% median income; and up to $875 for those earning up to 60% median income. (See the breakdown in the graph below).
Catholic Charities Housing Development Corporation and Hale Mahaolu, the property manager for the project, made the announcement saying applications will be accepted through 4 p.m. on Friday Aug. 30, 2019.
Applications are available for pick up at Hale Mahaolu Central Office, 200 Hina Avenue, Kahului, Hawaiʻi 96732 between 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2019 through Friday Aug. 30, 2019. Applicants must be at least 55 years of age at the time of application.
The target move in date is February 2020.

Only original applications completed and received at the Hale Mahaolu Central Office no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019 will be reviewed for eligibility and entry in the lottery selection to determine the initial occupancy and wait list. Faxes will not be accepted.
