Ask the Mayor: Where Can I Play Pickleball on Maui?

Mayor Michael Victorino answers some of the most-asked questions submitted to his office staff.

Q: Where can I play pickleball on Maui? Can you play pickleball on tennis courts?

A: Mahalo for your question. Our Department of Parks and Recreation has notified my staff that Maui County has four designated pickleball courts in West District and another four designated pickleball courts in South District, which also has one shared tennis/pickleball court.

Central District has no designated pickleball courts, but has two shared courts and one pickleball court on a tennis practice court. East District does not currently have any designated pickleball courts.

Parks staff could not find anything in the County Code that restricts play at tennis courts for only tennis. In total, there are 43 tennis courts on Maui, with four on Lānaʻi and two on Molokaʻi.

I want to clarify to our residents and visitors that we continue to support all of our parks users, including tennis and pickleball players. I strongly encourage all players and parks users to be courteous and adhere to the rules and proper conduct of the courts, so everyone may enjoy them.
