The state’s longest-running food and wine festival celebrates 30 years on Maui.  The Kapalua Wine & Food Festival begins this Thursday, June 9, and continues through Sunday, June 12, featuring culinary exhibitions and wine tasting with Master Sommeliers and celebrated chefs.

The event starts with an introductory class for food and beverage professionals from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua resort.  The three-hour educational seminar takes guests on a journey spanning wines of the world.  Tickets are $40, with proceeds going to the Guild of Sommeliers Education Foundation.

A welcome reception takes place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, at the Kapalua Spa.  The invitation-only event kicks-off the 2011 festival.
