Just a few years after starting his first eatery on Maui, Tin Roof, Chef Sheldon Simeon decided to open up a new restaurant, Lineage at The Shops at Wailea

The Top Chef TV show star started the full-service venture last October with the hopes of showcasing both his own family recipes and “food that comes from the community.”

Simeon described the menu as an inspiration from “our upbringing here,” and “just celebrating Hawaiʻi cuisine and presenting it in a cool, fun, modern way.”

Preparing the Lineage lineup, as Simeon explained, involves a process of “traditional techniques of preservation,” stating that he and his staff work closely with local farmers, ranchers, and fishermen.

Even though it has not been a full year since Lineage opened its doors, the restaurant has already gained national attention.

Last week, Bon Appetite Magazine named the eatery one of its 50 nominees for this yearʻs list of Americaʻs Best New Restaurants.

When asked about the “secret ingredient” to his success, Simeon humbly replied, “It was just a testament to the team and their passion and drive.”

“They are what makes up Lineage,” Simeon added.

In celebration of their first anniversary, Simeon and the Lineage staff will be hosting a special event featuring live music and giveaways next month.
