Emergency response crews rescued a woman who became stranded about 50-feet down a cliff in the Maliko area of Maui.

Maui fire crews responded to the report of a woman calling for help from the cliff face on the Pāʻia side of Maliko Bay in Haʻikū, Maui.  The incident was reported at around 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019.

The woman was reportedly walking along the shoreline in the bay when the tide came in. “She decided to climb the steep cliff-side trail to make her way back. As she ascended, the terrain and footing became extremely difficult to traverse and eventually did not allow for movement up or back down, leaving her stranded,” said Maui Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro.

Fire officials described the woman as in her 30’s with no local address.
