O‘ahu Woman Dies at Pu‘u Keka‘a, Pulled Unresponsive While Snorkeling

A 39-year-old Oʻahu woman died while snorkeling off of Puʻu Kekaʻa “Black Rock” in Kāʻanapali over the weekend.

The incident was reported at around 5:34 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019.

Fire officials say the woman was pulled unresponsive from the water near the rocky point.

Responding fire units from Engine 3 and Ladder 3 arrived on scene with Medics to find bystanders
performing CPR on the woman who was on the rocks.

Fire officials say that despite all efforts, the victim was pronounced dead on scene by Medics.

Crews left the scene at around 7:09 p.m.

Fire officials say the woman was using a traditional mask and snorkel and say ocean conditions were calm at the time.
