Makawao Home Fire Causes $270,000 in Damage, One Person Displaced

A Maui resident was displaced by a home fire that destroyed a residence on Pau Hana Road in Makawao overnight.

Fire officials say the resident was not at home at the time of the fire, but the blaze caused an estimated $270,000 in damage to the structure.

The incident was reported at around 10:08 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019.

Fire crews had the blaze under control at around 11 p.m., and fully extinguished at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Crews responding to the scene included Engine 4, Engine 13 and Tanker 10.
