Over 15,000 Pounds of Food Donated to Maui and Kauaʻi Food Banks

Zipline tour company Skyline Hawaiʻi, along with the help of volunteers, collected 15,743 pounds of food for Maui and Kauaʻi food banks during the month of September.

The company has been gathering food donations each September since 2015 under its Kamaʻāina Month Food Drive. Every Hawaiʻi resident who gives 10 cans of food during the drive receives a free zipline tour from the company.

This year, the drive amassed 13,081 pounds of the total collected from Maui residents, while the other 2,662 pounds were collected on Kauaʻi.

“We feel that supporting the Maui Food Bank & Kaua’i Independent Food Bank is a critical way to ensuring everyone in our community has access to healthy food no matter their financial circumstances.” Skyline Hawaiʻi owner Danny Boren said in a press release.

“No one in Hawai’i should need to worry about where their next meal is coming from, but unfortunately that is the situation so many people find themselves in – and that’s where the food banks can help.”

Since its inception, the Kama’āina Month Food Drive has donated a total of 35 tons of food on Maui and Kaua’i.
