Parks Department to Accept Tri-Annual Permit Applications
The county Department of Parks and Recreation is gearing up for the Tri-Annual Permit Process for the summer 2020 season for all leagues and recreational programs.
This process affects application requests for the majority of facility usage county-wide. Application requests impacted include those for athletic fields, multipurpose fields, ballfields, courts, pools and gymnasiums.
The department will accept application requests from 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, until 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, for the Summer 2020 season that lasts from April 16 to July 31, 2020.
Those wishing to be considered for facility scheduling for the summer 2020 season should apply. Any applications not received in person or via email by 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, will not be considered in the tri-annual process.
Applicants who miss the application window for summer 2020 may submit standard permit applications on a first-come, first-served basis beginning March 9, 2020, space-permitting.
The department is reminding users of the anticipated paving project at the War Memorial Complex as it will have impacts on facility availability.
The new South Maui Gymnasium and connected facilities are being scheduled as part of this Tri-Annual window.
Application request packets will be available at all department permit offices and on the county website. Application requests will be reviewed in the priority order outlined in the Department’s administrative rules.
The tri-annual application process involves three windows of time each year during which application requests may be submitted within the first two weeks of January, May and October. This process will not impact permit application requests for camping, community centers, or annual special events.
