Paid Conservation Leadership Program Seeks Candidates

Applications are now open for Nā Hua Hoʻohuli i ka Pono, a service-learning program that aims to help develop Maui’s next generation of conservation leaders.

Two positions are currently open for the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens during the Hoʻoilo Spring 2020 term.

Members will work 19 hours per week from Feb. 18, 2020 to June 5. Participants will earn a bi-weekly living allowance of $475 and are eligible to earn an AmeriCorps award of $1,289.95 to apply toward higher education costs or student loans.

The program is open to college-level students who are interested in integrating conservation as part of the foundation for a future career. Applicants do not need to be currently enrolled in college or pursuing a career in the environmental sector to be eligible for the program.

Applicants will be selected through a formal application, criminal history check, and interview.

Members are responsible for their own transportation and housing accommodations. Completed applications must be received by 12 p.m. on Jan. 27, 2020.
