Sierra Club Maui to Honor Environmental Champions

Sierra Club Maui hosts its Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pāʻia Community Center.

A talk story group on conservation and climate change issues will be led by East Maui Councilmember Shane Sinenci and State Rep. Tina Wildberger.

The theme for the event is “Climate Action” with a presentation planned to honor Environmental Champions of Maui including:

Onipa‘a: Walle Landenberger and Kai Nishiki
Mālama ka ‘āina: Justin Kekiwi, Tina Roth, Autumn Rae Ness
Mālama kahaki: Jim Koons, Bob Aldrich
Volunteer of the Year: Kim Toomey

Kecia Joy, the new manager for the Sierra Club Maui Group, will also be introduced.

A complimentary picnic lunch with main dishes donated by Mana Foods and Flatbread Company will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish to contribute as well as personal reusable utensils, plates and drinkware in order to make this a zero waste event.

All local political candidates running for office have been invited. Members and non-members are welcome to attend.
