$239,500 Available for County Recycling Grants

Grant applications are currently available for the county’s Recycling program.

The County of Maui Environmental Protection and Sustainability Division is soliciting grant application/proposals for the use of $239,500 from the Recycling Grant Program for fiscal year 2021, which begins on July 1, 2020.

Grant awards are subject to County Council approval.

Projects must be consistent with division and recycling goals. Potential projects may include recycling education, equipment upgrades, zero waste initiatives, program extensions and processing materials.

Applications are available at www.mauicounty.gov/recycle. Paper copies may be picked up or dropped off at the EP&S Division office at 2145 Wells St., Suite 103, in Wailuku. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. A grant application information session will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Mayor’s Conference Room on the ninth floor of the Kalana O Maui Building in Wailuku.

Grant summary applications must be hand delivered to the EP&S Division or postmarked by 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020. Summaries will be reviewed, and applicants will be notified if they have been selected to submit a full grant application. Submittal does not guarantee funding.

After the first round of applications are funded, there may be additional applications accepted for fiscal year 2021, subject to County Council appropriations.
