Hāna Highway to Close at Night Between Huelo and Hāna Town, Starting March 9
Maui motorists are advised of nightly closures on the Hāna Highway (Route 360) between Huelo and Hāna Town beginning Monday, March 9, 2020 for slope stabilization work.
All lanes and all directions of Hāna Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. between Monday evening, March 9 and Thursday morning, March 12. No closure is scheduled for Thursday night.
The night work will involve drilling and soil nail installation to stabilize the existing slope face of Hāna Highway.
Officials with the state Department of Transportation say the full road night closure allows for the work to be completed as quickly as possible while avoiding interruptions to the public at peak travel times.
Emergency vehicles and first responders have been notified and will be allowed passage through the closure. All roadwork is weather permitting.
