Hawai‘i Coronavirus Total Now 387: 16 New Cases, Maui Total is 44

As of noon on Monday, April 6, 2020, there are 387 cases of COVID-19 identified in Hawaiʻi with 16 new cases. Of the total cases in Hawaiʻi, 7% have required hospitalization, and over 80% were residents returning from other areas.

Maui reported its first COVID-19 related death today, and has one new case for a total of 44 confirmed positive. Of the 44 cases on Maui, at least 11 have been released from isolation, and four have required hospitalization.

The Maui count includes a resident of the rural community of Hāna in East Maui and two residents of Molokaʻi.  The Island of Lānaʻi in Maui County continues to have no reported cases.

Additional new cases were identified on Oʻahu where there were 11 new cases for a total of 292 on that island.  Hawaiʻi Island had one new case for a total of 23.  Kauaʻi’s count also increased by 1 from yesterday to 17 COVID-19 positive cases.

†Isolation should be maintained until at least 3 days (72 hours) after resolution of fever and myalgia without the use of antipyretics OR at least 7 days have passed since symptom onset, whichever is longer.
