Maui Crime March 29 to April 4: Break-ins, Burglaries, Thefts

Maui police responded to 10 burglaries, 9 vehicle thefts and 2 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from March 29 to April 4, 2020.

The number of burglaries remained the same from the week before. Vehicle thefts increased 13 percent from the week before when 8 incidents were reported; and vehicle break-ins increased 50 percent from the previous week, when 3 incidents were reported.

Below is a complete list of incidents and the time and locations of when and where each occurred.

10 Burglaries

Haʻikū: 

  • Wednesday, April 1, 1:04 p.m.: 300 Block of Kaupakalua Road, Haʻikū. Residential, unlawful entry.

Kahului: 

  • Wednesday, April 1, 3:27 p.m.: 80 Hansen Rd., Kahului at Puʻunēnē Mill. Non-residential, forced entry.

Kīhei:

  • Monday, March 30, 7:32 p.m.: 2430 S Kīhei Rd., Kīhei at the Royal Mauian Resort. Residential, forced entry.

Lahaina: 

  • Monday, March 30, 4:08 p.m.: 300 Block of Lahainaluna Road, Lahaina. Building in civil defense emergency/disaster period.

Makawao: 

  • Monday, March 30, 11:10 a.m.: 1-00 Block of Puia Place, Makawao. Residential, forced entry.

Pāʻia: 

  • Monday, March 30, 2:53 a.m.: 120 Hāna Hwy., Pāʻia at Earth Love Treasures. Building in civil defense emergency/disaster period.

Waiʻehu: 

  • Tuesday, March 31, 4:58 p.m.: 1-00 Block of Hoauna Street, Waiʻehu. Residential, attempted entry.

Wailuku: 

  • Sunday, March 29, 11:59 a.m.: 355 S High St., Wailuku at Wailuku Elementary School. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Wednesday, April 1, 8:45 a.m.: 1650 Kaʻahumanu Ave., Wailuku at Baldwin High School. Building in civil defense emergency/disaster period.
  • Saturday, April 4, 1:29 p.m.: 2200 Block of Malako St., Wailuku. Residential, unlawful entry.

  • Monday, March 30, 9:27 a.m.: 1 Lanui Cir., Kahului at the Kahului Airport parking lot. Honda, tan/black.
  • Wednesday, April 1, 9:06 a.m.: 300 Block of Hansen Road, Kahului. Subaru, white.
  • Thursday, April 2, 3:09 p.m.: 300 Block of E Wakea Avenue, Kahului. Ford, white.

Kīhei: 

  • Sunday, March 29, 8:19 p.m.: 2300 Block of S Kīhei Road, Kīhei at ABC Stores 2349 S Kīhei Rd. Scion, white.
  • Wednesday, April 1, 6:05 p.m.: Alulike Street/Kenolio Road, Kīhei. Honda, silver/black.
  • Wednesday, April 1, 8:24 a.m.: 1200 Block of S Kīhei Road, Kīhei at the parking lot between Naluʻs South Shore Grill and Ace Hardware. Honda, red.

Makawao: 

  • Sunday, March 29, 10:01 a.m.: Burns Place/Makawao Avenue, Makawao at the parking lot fronting the county base yard. Toyota, gold/black.

Wailuku: 

  • Monday, March 30, 12:35 p.m.: 1-00 Block of Lunalilo Street, Wailuku Honda, white.
