Mayor Eyes Potential In-Building Church Services at End of Month; Fitness Classes Possibly in Mid-June
The county of Maui continues to evaluate future re-openings of businesses and services. Drive-in religious services begin this Friday, May 22.
Mayor Victorino said that if things go well and churches are ready with social distancing, sanitizing and other aspects of health and safety, Maui County is looking at the following weekend, at the end of the month, as a possible start week for in-building church services throughout the county.
On Monday, May 25, barber shops, hair and nail salons can reopen with health and safety modifications in place.
On June 5, dine-in service at restaurants will have the opportunity to begin service with modifications in place.
Other areas the county will be looking at in the very near future for reopening include fitness classes, estheticians, and other personal services. Gradual reopening dates will be announced as they become available.
Mayor Victorino said he’ll consider reopening other businesses after evaluating dine-in service at restaurants.
“Probably around the middle of June we’ll be looking at starting up some of these other businesses–fitness classes and massage, and all the others that they have been asking for. But again, we will work with them as far as procedures and protocols–social distancing, sanitation, etc.,” said Mayor Victorino.
