PacWhale Eco-Adventures released the below statement regarding an “Essential Workers Week” that the company plans to host.

“In appreciation and recognition of the tremendous courage, sacrifice and resilience shown by our community’s essential workers, PacWhale Eco-Adventures will host Essential Workers Week once ocean tourism is cleared to reopen safely.

In partnership with Threes Bar and Grill, Fork and Salad and Maui Brewing Company, PacWhale Eco-Adventures invites teachers, healthcare workers and government staff affiliated with the COVID-19 response to take a much-deserved breather aboard a sunset sail cruise free of charge. These complimentary cruises will be launching throughout 1 week (once determined by County and government officials) to accommodate as many of these heroes as possible.

“Our essential workers deserve to be treated like the VIPs that they are,” explains Blake Moore, commercial operations director at PacWhale Eco-Adventures, the social enterprise owned by nonprofit Pacific Whale Foundation. “We are donating a week of cruises so they can feel appreciated and pampered. They are the reason we’re beginning to recover and it’s our way to say ‘mahalo.’”

Three’s Company Catering Director and Chef/Owner Travis Morrin was all in before the ink dried and is thrilled to partner with PacWhale for Essential Workers Week.  “We’ve been doing business with them since 2013,” he says. “They’ve become like family, so we always try to be there for them, and this is a great cause. We hope these essential workers have an incredible experience and that they feel recognized and rewarded. It’s about time they get to relax with good food and cold drinks after all they’ve done for our island community.

PacWhale Eco-Adventures will also offer 50% off to all Kama’āina as a way to say thank you for patiently complying with months of restrictive travel orders so our local business can get back to work quickly. These Kama’aina deals are good for the remainder of 2020 only. The regular Kama‘aina rate will resume in 2021 with an industry-leading 40% standard discount for local residents.”
