Maui Crime Aug. 2 to Aug. 8: Burglaries, Break-ins, Thefts

Maui police responded to 13 burglaries, 8 vehicle thefts and 10 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from Aug. 2 to Aug. 8, 2020.

Burglaries increased 44 percent from the week before when 9 incidents were reported. Vehicle thefts decreased 11 percent from the week before when the 9 incidents were reported; and vehicle break-ins increased 66 percent from the week before when 6 incidents were reported.

Below is a complete list of incidents and the time and locations of when and where each occurred.

13 Burglaries

Hāna:

  • Saturday, August 8, 3:02 p.m.: 4200 block of Hāna Hwy., Hāna. Residential, unlawful entry.

Kahului:

  • Wednesday, August 5, 3:24 a.m.: 101 Pakaula St., Kahului at Walmart. Non-residential, unlawful entry.

  • Wednesday, August 5, 8:16 a.m.: 1-100 Beach Pl., Kaunakakai. Non-residential, unlawful entry.

Kīhei:

  • Monday, August 3, 11:45 a.m.: 32 Halekuai St., Kīhei. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Tuesday, August 4, 8:20 a.m.: 2881 S Kīhei Rd., Kīhei at Aston Maui Hill. Non-Residential, forced entry.
  • Tuesday, August 4, 3:30 p.m.: 115 E Līpoa St., Kīhei at Kīhei Maui Self Storage. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Tuesday, August 4, 6:33 p.m.: 800 block of S Kīhei Rd., Kīhei. Residential, unlawful entry.
  • Thursday, August 6, 9:28 a.m.: 115 E Līpoa St., Kīhei. Non-residential, forced entry.

Lahaina:

  • Friday, August 7, 6:09 p.m.: 500 block of Lahainaluna Rd., Lahaina. Residential, unlawful entry.

Lānaʻi:

  • Sunday, August 2, 2:44 a.m.: 100 block of Lānaʻi Ave., Lānaʻi. Residential, forced entry.

Pāʻia:

  • Wednesday, August 5, 5:50 p.m.: 1-100 Hāna Hwy., Pāʻia. Residential, unlawful entry.

Kīhei:

  • Monday, August 3, 4:05 p.m.: 400 block of Kalalau Pl., Kīhei. Toyota, white.

Lahaina:

  • Friday, August 7, 4:05 p.m.: Lahaina Byp., Lahaina at camp just south of junction. Mitsubishi, black.
  • Friday, August 7, 4:05 p.m.: Lahaina Byp., Lahaina at camp just south of junction. GMC, grey/black.
