St. Anthony School to Hold Hybrid Fundraising Event This Saturday, Nov. 14
St. Anthony School will host its 2020 fundraising gala in a hybrid – in-person and online – format on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 12 to 2 p.m. The virtual portion of the event is free to stream and will allow guests to participate in what is usually a 200 person event at the King Kamehameha Golf Club. The in-person portion of the fundraiser consists of a limited seating, VIP luncheon at the new Wailea Kitchen.
“Since large gatherings were not being permitted, but restaurants could operate, we thought why not just follow their lead? By using a restaurant we are not only supporting a local business but we are also able to follow all the proper social distancing and sanitation procedures necessary. The restaurant is already set up for this so it made the most sense to build off of that,” says Head of School Tim Cullen.
The program also had to change to accommodate the restaurant capacity and County guidelines. “Usually we have our K-12th grade students there to play music, sing and just participate in the event itself. Since we couldn’t do that this year we made a video of kids on campus. This way there’s still the opportunity to see what we have been doing this first semester” Cullen states.
The school successfully opened for in-person, on-campus instruction on Aug. 4th thanks to innovative planning, creative use of facilities and grounds and new COVID protocols such as daily thermo-scanning, mandatory face masks, social distancing markers and hand sanitizing stations located throughout campus.
The video will be streamed through St. Anthony’s social media along with some live in-person portions such as “Raise the Paddle” and a live auction starting at 1 p.m. on Nov. 14. Their online silent auction is currently open from now through Nov. 15 and features vacation packages, restaurant gift certificates, a signed Fleetwood Mac guitar and more.
Proceeds from the event will do directly to tuition assistance. For more information contact the Advancement Office at 244-4190.
