DAY OF FALLEN MAUI WARRIORS
Four Maui Veterans killed in war were honored this afternoon during a ceremony at the Veteran’s Memorial Wall in Wailuku. The Day of Fallen Warriors honored servicemen Kelly Bolor, Jay Cajimat, Eugene Kanakaole and Christopher Sweet.
The event was marked with a 21 gun salute by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3850, Presentation of Flags by the Vietnam Veterans of Maui County, and the Unveiling of Plaques by the Maui County Veterans Council, President Rogelio Evangelista and Vice President Danny Kanahele.
Sgt. 1st Class Bolor died in a helicopter crash in 2003, Spc. Cajimat died in a roadside bombing in 2007, and both Sweet and Kanakaole died in non-combat related incidents.
Families of the men were on hand to witness the unveiling of plaques made in honor of the soldiers who lost their lives while serving their country.
The program was appropriately named “The Day of the Fallen Maui Warriors”
