Oʻahu Man Arrested at Kahului Airport for Alleged Quarantine Violation
An Oʻahu man was arrested at Kahului Airport on Wednesday for alleged violation of rules and orders related to the state’s travel quarantine.
Police say that upon arrival on Maui, Edgardo Cortez, 37, did not have a negative pre-travel COVID-19 test from an approved facility, and did not have approved lodging in which to complete the state’s mandatory 10-day travel quarantine.
Cortez was transported to the Wailuku Police Station for processing without incident and volunteered to leave Maui and fly back to Oʻahu.
Two California Men Arrested at Kahului Airport for Alleged Quarantine Violation
A California man was arrested at Kahului Airport on Wednesday for alleged violation of rules and orders related to the state’s travel quarantine.
Police say that upon arrival from the mainland, Joe Huerta, 60, and Josiah Huerta, 31, both did not have negative pre-travel COVID-19 tests from an approved facility, and did not have approved lodging in which to complete the state’s mandatory 10-day travel quarantine.
Both were transported to the Wailuku Police Station for processing without incident and volunteered to leave Maui and fly back to California.
MPD Employee at Wailuku District Tests Positive for COVID-19
An employee with the Maui Police Department who works out of the Wailuku District tested positive for COVID-19.
According to department reports, the asymptomatic employee, whose last worked shift was on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, is isolating at home. The department received confirmation of the positive case on Thursday, April 29.
All common areas in the Police station will be professionally disinfected and sanitized. The individual will remain in isolation until cleared by the Department of Health.
