Maui police responded to a call on Thursday afternoon regarding an unresponsive male at the beach area of 76 South Kīhei Road.
The incident was reported at around 3:14 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021.
Upon arrival, life-saving measures were being performed by a bystander until first responders took over; however, those measures proved futile, police said.

The victim’s identity is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin and an autopsy has been scheduled.
The investigation is ongoing and the case is currently classified as a miscellaneous accident.
