LAHAINA BYPASS BREAKS GROUND THIS WEEK
Starting tomorrow (March 31, 2209), a portion of Lahainaluna Road will be closed as the state prepares to begin construction on Phase 1A of the Lahaina Bypass. Motorists will be detoured onto a new section of Lahainaluna Road between Kelawea Park and Ikena Avenue.
The bypass is designed to provide traffic relief and an alternate route during emergencies.
An additional phase of the project, Phase 1B, will be discussed with the public at a meeting this Thursday. Phase 1B spans approximately 1.7 miles from Lahainaluna road to Hokiokio Place. That meeting begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Lahaina Civic Center. Click here for our archived story on this meeting.
The following day, Friday, April 3rd is the official ground breaking for the initial Phase 1A of the project.
