A man in his 30s suffered head trauma and lacerations to his face and body after his car plunged 200 feet down a cliff in Keanae on Saturday.
The incident was reported at 7:02 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2011, near Mile Marker 18 of the Hana Highway.
Crews from Rescue-10 out of Kahului found the vehicle at the base of a riverbed at around 8:06 p.m.
Because of rains in the area, the stream was low but rising, according to officials with the Maui Fire Department.
Three rescue personnel made their way down to the victim, and had the patient back up top by 11:45 p.m.
All units were back to the highway by 12:35 a.m.
