53 JOBS NOW AVAILABLE FOR YOUNG ADULTS IN MAUI

Fifty three conservation jobs are now available for young adults looking for summer work.  Applicants for the AmeriCorps program must be u.s. citizens between the ages of 17 and 28, possess a high school diploma or GED, be college-bound, and physically able to do strenuous work.  The program gives interns the opportunity to work with land management specialists and do conservation field work in Maui’s natural environment.

Interns receive monthly stipends of $1087 and are awarded scholarships ranging from $1000 to $1,250 after successfully completing the program.  Scholarship monies may be applied towards tuition or to pay back existing student loans.

Maui candidates will work with the following host organizations:  Department of Land and Natural Resources, Haleakalā National Park, East Maui Watershed Partnership, Leeward Haleakalā Watershed Restoration Partnership, Maui Invasive Species Committee, The Nature Conservancy and Maui Coastal Land Trust. Moloka’i projects are hosted by the following three agencies; DLNR, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and The Nature Conservancy. On Lana’i, chosen applicants will be working with DLNR’s Lana’i Hale Project.
