Hawaiʻi-based roaster Lion Coffee has launched a new 100% Maui Coffee made exclusively with beans from Mahi Pono Farms in Kahului.

The company announced that 10% of proceeds from every bag sold will be donated to the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund to support ongoing wildfire recovery efforts.

“This launch is about more than just exceptional coffee—it’s about honoring Maui’s resilience, supporting Hawaiian farmers, and standing alongside our Maui ʻohana as they continue to rebuild,” said Gerard Bastiaanse, president and CEO of Lion Coffee.

The single-origin beans are grown in partnership with Mahi Pono, an agricultural company in Central Maui. The coffee is described as “smooth” and “well-balanced,” with flavor characteristics reflective of Maui’s climate and soil.

“Maui’s land produces something truly special — and this coffee captures that,” Bastiaanse said. “It’s more than a cup of coffee. It’s a way to support the island’s future, one sip at a time.”

Micah Kāne, CEO of the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, said the partnership represents more than philanthropy—it’s an act of community support.

“We are deeply grateful to Lion Coffee for their partnership (…) to support the recovery of the people and places impacted by the Maui fires through sales of their Maui-sourced coffee” Kāne said. “At HCF, we remain committed to walking alongside this community for the long term—helping address the foundational needs that will help Maui not just recover but thrive.”
