Hawaiian Electric, in collaboration with the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College, is launching a free, eight-week workforce training program to prepare Maui residents for potential careers with the utility company.

The program, offered for the first time on Maui, runs from June 30 to Sept. 5 and aims to create a pipeline of qualified candidates for roles at Hawaiian Electric’s generation facilities.

“There is a direct path from this program into Hawaiian Electric’s Operator Helper position,” said Kazu Hayashida, Hawaiian Electric’s manager of workforce planning. “We are offering this program as we are looking to build a pipeline of candidates for future opportunities we may have at our generating stations within our company.”
