Hawaiʻi State FCU donates $37.5K to support affordable housing and family homelessness services

Hawaiʻi State Federal Credit Union has awarded a combined $37,500 to two Hawaiʻi nonprofits working to support affordable housing and assist families experiencing homelessness.
Family Promise of Hawaiʻi received $25,000 and Hawaiʻi HomeOwnership Center was awarded $12,500 through contributions from Hawaii State FCU and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) Member Impact Fund, which matches donations from financial institutions in an effort to strengthen their communities.
“Stable housing creates the foundation for lasting financial wellness and opportunity,” said Hawaiʻi State FCU President and CEO Andrew Rosen. “We’re honored to support the vital work of Family Promise of Hawaiʻi and Hawaiʻi HomeOwnership Center, and immensely grateful for the generous matching grant from FHLB Des Moines. Their partnership allows us to extend our reach and deepen our impact in the communities we serve.”
Family Promise of Hawaiʻi, which provides interim shelter and case management to families on Oʻahu and Maui, was awarded $10,000 by Hawaiʻi State FCU and a $15,000 match from FHLB Des Moines.

Hawaiʻi HomeOwnership Center, which offers down payment assistance and homebuyer education, received a $5,000 donation from Hawaiʻi State FCU and a $7,500 match. The funds will support first-time buyers with educational resources, home repairs and closing cost aid.
This marks the third year Hawaiʻi State FCU has partnered with the FHLB Des Moines Member Impact Fund. The matching grant program provides up to $3 for every $1 donated by a participating financial institution, based on eligible funding requests. This year, the program matched $1.50 for every $1 donated by Hawaiʻi State FCU.
