If quitting smoking or vaping is a New Year’s resolution, these Hawaiʻi resources may help

As 2026 begins, health officials encourage residents to take advantage of free cessation resources offered statewide, such as the Hawaiʻi Tobacco Quitline and My Life, My Quit programs.
“Remember, quitting takes practice – just like learning how to surf,” said a quitline representative. “Every quit attempt is a learning experience and brings you closer to success.”
The programs are designed to meet people where they are, whether they are considering quitting or ready to stop using tobacco and vaping products altogether. For example, the Hawaiʻi Tobacco Quitline will replace tobacco patches with free nicotine patches, gum and lozenges.
The quitline offers telephone and online services for adults ages 18 and older. Residents can access support by calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW or 1-800-784-8669, or by visiting hawaiiquitline.org.
For teens looking to quit vaping or other tobacco products, My Life, My Quit provides free and confidential support for youth ages 13 to 17 through a mobile app and online tools at mylifemyquit.com. Youth ages 12 and under may participate with parental consent by calling 1-855-891-9989.
The Hawaiʻi Tobacco Quitline celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2026. Since its launch, the program has provided cessation support to more than 44,000 Hawaiʻi residents using evidence-based strategies, according to program administrators. Local quitline coaches work with participants to develop tailored quit plans and connect them to additional resources.
