Cold Front off Kauai Brings Wind Advisory to Maui
By Wendy Osher
A cold front northwest of Kauai brought wet weather to the Garden Isle today, but is resulting in gusty winds for the rest of the state.
The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for Maui and Molokai until 6 p.m.
Forecasters say winds will be southerly, blowing at 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph.
The winds are expected to be the strongest across north and east sections of the islands, enhanced in down-slope areas.
Forecasters with the NWS say winds will peak early this afternoon, then begin to diminish by evening.
As a precaution, motorists driving high profile vehicles are advised that the winds will make driving difficult. Any loose items or object that may become airborne should be secured or left indoors.
