Air ambulance used in rescue of Maui man injured at Twin Falls

An 18-year-old Maui resident was injured yesterday, Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, after falling in the area known as Twin Falls in Hoʻolawa Valley.
At around 9:24 a.m., firefighters responded to reports of a male who had fallen from an unknown height into a pond and was unable to walk due to his injuries. Rescue 10 personnel aboard Air 1 arrived on-scene and extricated the victim from the pond’s edge as water levels began to rise rapidly.
Following the extraction, firefighters from Engine 2 and Rescue 10 carried the victim down the trail to waiting Emergency Medical Services personnel. Due to the nature of the injuries, EMS utilized the Reach 48 air ambulance to transport the victim to Maui Memorial Medical Center for further treatment.
Emergency crews concluded their response at 11:15 a.m.
