The Maui Soil and Water Conservation Districts and federal officials invite residents to shape local conservation funding priorities during an Aug. 26 meeting at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College.

Representatives from the Natural Resources Conservation Service want to hear from agricultural leaders, farmers, ranchers, forest landowners and conservation/environmental organizations. They need input on current conditions of the island’s natural resources.

This feedback helps identify key concerns and informs federal program development and funding decisions.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. inside the Cooperative Extension Services Building in Kahului. The office is at 310 W. Kaʻahumanu Ave., Room 214.

Local working groups advise the federal agency to ensure programs fit the specific needs of Maui County.
