Haleakalā National Park closes due to Tropical Storm Lala 

Due to Tropical Storm Lala, both districts of Haleakalā National Park will close this evening— Kīpahulu District at 5 p.m. and Summit District at 6:30 p.m. Sunrise reservations for Saturday, Aug. 15 have been cancelled. Front country and backcountry camping are cancelled for today, Friday, Aug. 14. The park will reopen when it is safe to do so.

Notifications regarding park closures and reopening will be posted on the park’s website and social media channels. Visitors should monitor the county website for updates regarding possible road closures.
