Maui Bus services to be altered Saturday due to Tropical Storm Lala

Due to Tropical Storm Lala, County of Maui Department of Transportation on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, will suspend or end early certain Maui Bus services. Transit services for Sunday will be determined by midday Saturday.

Maui Bus will operate as conditions safely allow; last-minute severe weather may alter or cancel services. Maui Bus riders are encouraged to check the Maui Bus app or visit https://mauibus.org before traveling.

The following cancellations and changes to bus services are planned for Saturday:

Commuter Service

• Maui Bus commuter services to West and South Maui are suspended for the entire day

Fixed Route Service

• Maui Bus Fixed-Route services will end by 2 p.m., with most routes departing by noon (some will depart earlier)
• The Kahului Transit Center will close once all routes have been completed
• Final departures for Maui Bus Fixed-Route services are as follows:

• 9:30 a.m. – West Maui Express #29 (from Kahului Transit Center)
• 10:15 a.m. – Waihee Villager #8
• 11 a.m. – Kula Islander #39
• 11:30 a.m. – Wailuku Loop #1, Kahului Loop #5, Kihei Islander #10, Haiku Islander #35
• Noon – Wailuku Reverse Loop #2, Kahului Reverse Loop #6, Upcountry Islander #40, Kihei Villager #15, Lahaina Villager #23

ADA Paratransit Service

• ADA Paratransit services will end by 2 p.m., with most pre-scheduled reservation pickups taking place by noon
• Once shelters open on Maui, same-day reservations will be allowed for eligible paratransit riders to get to a shelter. For more information, call Maui Economic Opportunity Transportation at 808-877-7651.

Also, Park Maui operations and enforcement at Kamaʻole Beach Parks I and III parking lots, West Maui lots near Lahaina Harbor and the Wailuku Garage may be suspended if related County facilities are impacted by severe weather.
